Piano Cover – Small Investment, Big Return
A piano cover is a necessity for any business that has a piano on display that comes in contact or is played by multiple people. Many pianos are not protected from the elements. A non protected piano will easily damaged quicker than a piano that is properly protected by piano covers. A piano cover will help protect the piano from accidental damage. It will guard against liquid spills, dirt, unwanted damage. A piano cover is a smart investment. A lot of businesses have protected their pianos with a piano cover. A piano cover will give extra life by protecting the wood exterior of the piano.
I had become a volunteer last year with our church’s outreach program. It was my way to give back to the community that had given so much to me. I really enjoyed my time volunteering at the local soup kitchen. I would volunteer 2 days a week. I enjoyed the people the best. I always knew that I was helping other because I would see how thankful each one of the people were.
My fondest recollection is working there with my friend John. John work with our church choir. John would play piano at the soup kitchen as the guest dined on their meals. Everyone really enjoyed the music and sometime would sing along. A private donor donated the grand piano. The piano became a gathering spot in the dining hall. If John was not playing it would often being played by one of the homeless people themselves. There were a lot of good players in the group. It always brightens the overall experience.
Early last year a fire had temporally closed the soup kitchen. A small electrical fire had started in the kitchen . It happened late at night when no one was there. The kitchen damage luckily was minor. The building was up to code and the fire sprinklers had quickly done their job. I knew that there would be water damage and my first thought was if the piano was ruined. I knew that it would be irreplaceable . A new piano would cost over 15 grand. Luckily it was covered. I mean that literally. The piano was not insured because of the cost. The grand piano cover protected the wood surface of the piano by keeping it dry from the sprinklers.
After a few days of clean up the soup kitchen was back in business. It was good to be back helping others. John and the guests were back to playing music on the piano. In the end the piano cover was a wise investment. Expensive repairs were avoided. The piano covered saved the day!
