Can I get music off an ipod classic by accessing the file system rather than using itunes?
I have a friend with corrupt files and hasn't backed them up. I would be her hero if I could save the music/video files for her. I know you can access the nano, and can't access the touch. hoping you can access them on classic.
you can. go to folder options and turn off invisible folders. then you should see a new folder called music. right-click and go to properties and turn off invisible and read-only. now you can access it. this is because itunes tries to prevent illegal music ripping, but they did not invest millions in anti-hacker stuff since people will hack it in less than a year (look at sony's psp).
