How to understand this English sentence?
I have a difficultly-understood sentence here: "...the spin masters and negative ad peddlers who embrace the politics of anything goes."
"politics of anything goes", "of" here is an prep, right? As far as I've learned, prep is followed by nouns, so it's little hard for me to understand why here "of" is followed by a sentence, "anything goes"?
Well, this isn't a sentence; it's just a subject, an extra long one. Spinmasters are people on TV who tell what happened in a way that makes you have the opinion they want you to have. Negative ad peddlers sell advertisements that are often dishonest. These people, spinmasters and negative ad peddlers, will do anything--including telling lies--to achieve their goal.
The politics of anything goes: "Anything goes" is an idiom. It means no rules, no standards of behavior, all rules are canceled.
