Cozy Classic Fireplaces

Well everyone, winter is almost here again. Okay, so maybe not quite. I do realize that we just started the fall season, but you know how fast these days fly by. Anyway, with winter on the way, this means you will need heat. Depending where you are, you may need a lot of it. The stinky part of this equation is that their raising the costs on gas now. I almost feel that it’s more prudent to take the wood route. However, we must all choose the one that suits us and our family’s best. What are you planning to heat your home with? Maybe you want to add a few gas fireplace logs to the mix. These are simple, convenient and fun. I’ve had a couple different gas fireplaces in my day, and I did enjoy them.

It’s wise to weight the options at hand. There are gas fireplace logs and there are wood-burning fireplaces. Which do you think you would prefer? Now this may surprise some a little, but I actually love wood-burning fireplaces. I still think this is the best way to go. Now especially that gas prices are on the rise, wood is looking better by the minute. After conversing with a buddy of mine from Minnesota, I have a better understanding of how much wood is required to literally heat an average sized home. He has a massive fireplace in his home, which he uses to heat his house each and every winter. He claims that three cords of wood are necessary to do this. Now I am talking about no forced heat here folks. Only the raging and crackling of an efficient wood-burning fireplace. Where I’m located, a cord of wood runs around 130 dollars. So a winter’s worth the heat may cost you close to 400. That’s considerable lower than what many people fork out for their gas bill. I hope this sheds some light on the wood versus gas situation. In the end it’s really up to you.

Like I was saying, gas fireplace logs are rather simple, convenient and cozy. You can even have them installed in a wood-burning fireplace. It can be converted fairly quickly and easily. The advantage of gas fireplace logs is certainly their simplicity. All you have to do is flip a switch. Suddenly you’re sitting before a nice, relaxing warm fire. If that sounds right up your alley, then gas fireplace logs are probably suitable for you and your family.
